    INTRODUCTION TO TRADITIONAL JOB SEARCH

I’ve created a suite of videos to do with traditional job search.  This is the area where most people will focus their time but it is also the area where you are least likely to have success.  So many people will apply for a job they see advertised and many do it with little thought to creating an application that excels.

    REVIEW JOB ADS

You need to take a structured approach to finding a job, some you will find online others via newspapers.  To help you to shortlist create some criteria, you don’t want to be inundated with jobs into your inbox that aren’t right for you.

    APPLYING FOR JOBS

Let me give you a structure on how to apply for a job.  I want you to treat this like a project.  There is a lot of detail in Secrets of Traditional Job Search Revealed, a guided workbook but I want to bring this alive.

    COVER LETTERS

The previous video (Applying for jobs) provides a structure for how to review job ads and you will use this same structure to create your cover letter, so you can review this video again to get you ready to create your cover letter.  This approach will lead to a very focused cover letter and increase your chance of getting shortlisted.

    APPLICATION FORMS

It is far easier to apply with a CV and cover letter but sometimes an organisation will prefer applicants to complete an application form and I explain why in this video.

One option is to register with recruitment consultancies and agencies.  You need to do your research and make sure you choose the right one for you.  You will find high street branches, national agencies, and large Search & Selection companies.  These are given a brief and go out to find someone.
